  • Thanjavur is now linked with BPL mobile phone service. The prefix for the number is 98430. The user can choose the rest of the five digit numbers subject to vailability. Incoming calls are free. They have different plans out of which the regular plans seems to be the best. The deposit returnable) is Rs 2000. SIM card and activation charges is Rs 2310 ( one time) Monthly access charges Rs 350 per  month. Line charges for calls between mobile is Rs 6.00 per minute. Calls between mobile to dot numbers is Rs 6.00 per minute plus 85% of DOT charges.

    There are other plans for maximum users where the call rate is as low as Rs 1.50 per minute.

    But regular plans seems to be the best in view of the frquent breakdowns of DOT lines duw to expansion.
